Data passports can only be applied for by a Researcher.

Certain datasets might require that a Researcher holds a specific data passport or even multiple data passports before they can request access to that dataset via a data request. Researchers must apply to hold a data passport via a data passport application.

How to apply for a data passport

  1. Select 'My Data Passport' from your username dropdown.

  1. Select 'Apply for a Data Passport'.

  1. Select 'Apply' from the field of the data passport you wish to apply for.

  1. Answer any questions required by 'Instructions' section of the data passport.

  1. Select 'Start Application'.

  1. Answer any required questions of the next section, and any sections after that. Select 'Next Section' to move onto each subsequent section, or 'Submit' once you have answered all required questions of the final section.

Note: If you need to exit a data passport application partway through its completion, select 'Save Draft and Exit' (below). It can then be returned to at any time.

  1. Once you have successfully submitted the data passport you can review its information on the resulting screen, which can be re-accessed at any time. If you wish to edit your answers to the data passport's questions, select 'Edit' from the 'Next steps' field.

  1. If you wish to communicate with other team members or Data Passport Approvers, use the 'Correspondence' section's rich text field to input your comment, then select 'Submit' to post it.

  1. Once a Data Passport Approver or Administrator has approved your application, the relevant data passport will be tied to your account and you will be able to request access to datasets that require that data passport via a data request.
