# Creating and editing data teams

Data teams can only be created or edited by an Administrator.

Data teams must be created by Tablion Administrators prior to being assigned to a data request. After creation, data teams can be edited or deactivated.
Data team creation includes the curation of a task list, which remains attached to that data team and is to be completed as part of an artefact when that data team is assigned to a data request.
### How to create or edit a data team
1. Select 'Admin tools' from your username dropdown.
2. Select 'Data Teams'.
3. **If you wish to create a new data team**, select 'Create'. **If you with to edit an existing data team**, select 'Manage' from its row, then 'Edit Data Team'.
4. Populate/adjust the 'Name' and 'Description' fields as desired.
**Note:** The 'Description' field is not mandatory.
5. **If you wish to add a manager to the data team**, select 'Add' from the 'Managers' section, then select the user you wish to add as a manager from the dropdown.
**Notes:**
* Data team managers are able to create artefacts once their team is assigned to a data request, then assign their team members (including other managers) to tasks as desired
* Researchers cannot be added as data team managers or members.
6. **If you wish to add a member to the data team**, select 'Add' from the 'Members' section, then select the user you wish to add as a member from the dropdown.
7. **If you wish to remove any managers or members from the data team**, select the checkbox beside their email address, then select 'Delete selected' from the relevant section.
8. **If you wish to add a task to the data team**, select 'Add' from the 'Tasks' section, then populate the task with whatever instructions it requires.
9. **If you wish to remove a task from the data team**, select the checkbox beside the task(s) you wish to remove, then select 'Delete selected'.
10. **If you want data team related notifications to be sent to a single email address**, populate/adjust the 'Mailbox' field with the desired email address.
**Note:** If the 'Mailbox' field is left empty, data team related notifications will be sent to the account emails of all members of the data team.
11. Select 'Create'/'Save' once satisfied.
